We’ve developed a series of beautiful card decks to help you deepen your holding space practice, expand your understanding of the world you live in, and get closer to understanding who you are and how you show up in your relationships and your community. They can be used as journal prompts, as workshop prompts, as community conversation starters, and/or as daily reflections you can prop up on your night stand. We look forward to hearing about the creative ways that you’ll use the cards that we haven’t thought of yet!

Note: Please be patient with us in the coming weeks and months as we complete production and figure out our distribution methods. We’re excited to get these into your hands, but they may take a bit of time to get there. Trust us, though – the wait will be worth it!

This beautifully designed card deck draws on the wisdom of Heather Plett’s book, The Art of Holding Space: A Practice of Love, Liberation, and Leadership. Each card highlights a theme from the book and offers a reflection question or two, to encourage you to deepen your personal practice around the concepts of Holding Space. The photos on each card offer additional layers of reflection, inspiring a visual engagement beyond the words. The accompanying booklet provides additional context for each (most are quotes from the book), as well as several suggestions for how to use the cards. With fifty-two cards in the deck, you can pick a card each week of the year as a weekly reflection as you deepen your capacity to hold space. Or you can use them to evoke conversation in workshops or community gatherings, or as daily journal prompts.

At almost every workshop she facilitates, Heather uses a card deck of 100 faces to help people reflect on who they feel called to hold space for, who they’re in relationship with, who’s inspiring them, or who they want to learn more about. She also uses them at writing workshops to inspire storytelling and dialogue-writing. Every time she uses them, people ask if they can buy a copy, but because the original images were collected only for her use, she’s had to say no. Now she can finally say “YES! WE MADE A DECK ESPECIALLY FOR YOU!” These one hundred faces were carefully curated to reflect a wide range of humanity, plus some from the animal kingdom. We hope that everyone who views them will see some reflection of themselves and those they love in the images. You can use them for workshop prompts, for writing prompts, or for meditation prompts – whatever inspires you.

What is the place where you feel most supported? What is the place that most challenges you? What is the place that intrigues you and makes you want to explore? Places matter. A place can engage you, inspire you, comfort you, and challenge you. The place you’re in can even help you hold space more effectively for other people and for yourself. In this deck of cards, two members of our team (Heather & Brenda) have gathered images of one hundred places from all over the world. Landscapes, cityscapes, and seascapes. You can use the images for writing prompts (i.e. imagine a story that happens in this place), for workshop prompts, or to prop on your nightstand to inspire you for all of the places you want to visit in your dreams or in reality.

50QuestionsBox_CardFrontBack_SimpleShadow (1) (1)

On her fiftieth birthday, a few years ago, Heather Plett launched an e-course called “50 Questions That Could Change Your Life.” Originally, she’d considered creating “50 tips for a better life” and then she realized that she’d always learned more from questions than she did from statements or tips, so she dug into an exploration of what questions had engaged her, challenged her, and motivated her to grow and stretch herself. After the questions had been available for awhile, a friend mentioned how it would be fun to have a deck of cards with images for each question, and that’s when the idea for this deck was born. These are challenging questions that stretch you to think outside of the box, to examine the patterns you might be stuck in, and to reflect on your place in the world and in community. You can use them as journal prompts, as conversation prompts, or as art prompts. The combination of words and images invite you into deep reflection and, hopefully, growth.

“If you are feeling drawn to this work without a strong sense of reason, just know that your soul is ready to move through liminal space and into the glory of an expansive new beginning.”

Ethical Sourcing Policy

At the Centre for Holding Space, it is our intention to work with ethical manufacturers and to source our products as ethically as we can. We want everything we produce to be friendly to the earth and supportive of the people who use them AND the people who make them.

With that in mind, we try to do a fair amount of research into the best ways of getting things printed or produced. Whenever possible, we hope to work with smaller businesses and especially those owned by marginalized populations. Sometimes, putting those values at the heart of our decision-making means that things might cost a little more to produce and/or take a little longer delivery times.

We believe it's worth it.
